野守は見ずや 君が袖振る
– 額田女王 (ぬかたのおおきみ) –
古代。我が国に住まった人々は、現代人の我々には想像もできぬほど激情的であった。それは例えば、侮辱を受けるや怒りのあまり憤死したり、また悲恋の末、衰弱死してしまうほどであった。
平均寿命も短かった。ちょっとした風邪でも人は死んだし、衛生環境など無きに等しかった。為政者から激しい使役を課せられ、疲弊して死んだ。父母の使役はその子供たちに受け継がされ、彼らも同じ末路を辿って死んだ。
明日をも知れぬ時代だからこそ、人々は生きた。生き抜いた。その生き方、人生への想いを私たちは万葉集から垣間見ることができる。
1,400年前の先人の在り方を、大和時代のシャーマン的麗人、額田女王の歌を通して、古代と現代に通ずる一本の道を音楽で表現してみようと思う。
